Charlotte McEnroe

Instructor

Charlotte McEnroe has been developing champions since 1976. Considered one of the finest hunter and equitation coaches in New England, Charlotte’s students have qualified and competed at the Washington International Horse Show, New England Equitation Finals, National Hunter Finals, National Pony Finals, as well as numerous state finals.

As head coach and director of the Tufts University riding program, Charlotte coached the Tufts Equestrian Team for 20 years. She coached her students to the Regional, Zone, and National IHSA Finals each year as well as secured the National Reserve Team Championship! The Cacchione Cup, awarded to the best rider in the nation, was won by two of her students, Peter Wylde and Halley Phillips. Charlotte also won the National Coach of the Year award!

Charlotte was born into a family that rode and loved horses so she was in a saddle before she could walk. Her early education was with the Cavalry Officers as well as greats like Karl Mikolka, Hugh Wiley, and George Morris. Charlotte has also been a lifelong avid fox hunter and was an Honorary Whipper-In with the Norfolk Hunt Club for more than a decade. The love of riding to the hounds also brought her to enjoy the discipline of eventing, and her many students enjoy competing and cross-training into this discipline (including dressage) as well.

Throughout her 40 years of teaching, training, and coaching under Charlotte McEnroe Show Stables, Charlotte’s greatest reward is to promote excellence in horsemanship. Her understanding of stable management and horsemanship promotes the welfare of the horse when considering the rider’s goals. Charlotte is a USHJA certified trainer, USEF Steward, clinician, and local horse show judge.
